The Turn Up: The W Ft. Lauderdale, FL

Earlier this year I decided that I really wanted to treat myself for my 25th birthday this year. I recently went back to school and I almost never celebrate my birthday when I’m in school because it always lands on finals week :-(. I love to travel so I planned a cruise vacation with my best friend between my birthday and Christmas.
Because we live in different cities we traveled separately and met up in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl the day before our cruise left. I’ve been wanting to stay at “The W” for a while now so I finally took the plunge and booked a room at the one in Ft. Lauderdale.

Honestly The W was phenomenal! It was definitely one of the nicest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The staff was so courteous and helpful. The hotel itself was BEAUTIFUL. All of the decor and styling was just stunning. It reminded me of walking into a seashell it was so cool and calming. They also had little drink dispensers everywhere with citrus infused water. It was so delicious and refreshing in the 80 degree weather.
Our room was also gorgeous. We had a huge shower with a glass wall so you could see straight through the room and the balcony from the shower! We had a good sized balcony with views of the ocean, the city, and the river.
The pool area was probably my favorite, and honestly probably why I booked with The W after seeing the pics on their site. The infinity pool was huge with sparkling blue tiles and a glass encased stairway so you could see into the pool while walking underneath it into the “living room”.
We explored the beach area and walked up and down the street to a few of the shops, ate lunch and had a few drinks. I was so impressed by how nice Ft. Lauderdale was in this area. I don’t know why but I’ve always thought of Ft. Lauderdale as Miami’s dirty little cousin that partied to hard, but every where we went was clean and beautiful.
Like the cherry on top to a beautiful relaxing day, when we got back to our room from exploring, The W had left me a special birthday surprise! A bottle of my favorite vodka, Tito’s, cranberry nectar, Grand Marnier, limes, and a cocktail shaker! Lets just say “The Turn Up” got real that night!
I had such a great time staying at The W that I wish I would have booked another night so I could have got to explore more of the hotel and the city. I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a place to stay on your next visit to Ft. Lauderdale.
