I went into my local beauty supply store over the weekend to get a few packs Marley hair for twists…. 30 minutes and $40 later I came out with all this and no hair.

I got a chance to play with some of these products and I’m pretty impressed by a few. Stay tuned for full reviews in the coming weeks!
I picked up these Wet n Wild Velvet Matte Lip Colors thinking that they may be a nice cheap dupe for some more higher end matte lip pencils. I wish the packaging had shown a color of the actual product through the cap because once I got them home and opened them I was disappointed in the colors that I had chose. I was hoping for more muted, dusky, nudes but “Fashion Darling” and “Plumgenue” were much brighter than their tube suggested.
I won’t be doing a full review but I will say that the formula left a lot to be desired. They weren’t uncomfortable to wear but weren’t exactly moisturizing either and settled into lip lines. All of the colors were sheer and didn’t dry completely matte.

The High Voltage lipsticks from NYX are another new release for Summer 2015. These lipsticks come in a twist up tube, which is very similar to Colour Pop lipsticks. There are 20 shades in the line and I believe they all have a satin finish. All of the shades that I purchased were pigmented with one swipe on my arm and two swipes on the lips to get them nice and even. These formula and wear of these remind me of Maybelline lipsticks. They wear for about 5-6 hours and are non drying.
The main thing that I really don’t like about these lipsticks (which I didn’t notice when I bought them) is the amount of product that you get. The High Voltage lipsticks are $6 like almost all of NYX’s other lipsticks BUT you get about half of the amount of product!
NYX High Voltage contains 0.09oz of product for $6 (.015oz/dollar)
NYX Butter & Matte Lipsticks both contain 0.16oz of product for $6 (.027oz/dollar)
NYX Round Lipsticks contain 0.23oz of product for only $4 (.058oz/dollar)
I feel like these should be a little cheaper or a little bigger to be more comparable to the rest of NYX products because the formula is nothing new or phenomenal.
Twisted, Stone, Feline, Dirty Talk, Dahlia
Swatched: NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Tres Leches, Toasted Marshmallow, Spice Cake, Orangesicle, and Berry Strudel
NYX has recently released another addition to their “Butter” line with the new Intense Butter Gloss. They have the same great moisturizing feel and yummy smell as the original Butter Gloss but with about 10x more pigment. These glosses are more opaque and comparable to a shiny liquid lipstick. They perform much like the original Butter Gloss, they apply easily, are slightly sticky (but that’s just the nature of a wet gloss) and last for about 3-4 hours. The only real difference is that the Intense Butter Gloss will leave a stain on your lips especially the darker shades.
Tres Leches, Toasted Marshmallow, Spice Cake, Orangesicle, and Berry Strudel
NYX recently released a ton of new products to bring us into the summer right! I was supposed to be on a “no-buy” but I couldn’t pass up a chance to order a few things from Ulta during their last sale.
NYX HD Blush in Crimson
NYX Prismatic Eye Shadow in Liquid Gold
NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Orangsicle, Toasted Marshmallow, Tres Leches, Berry Strudel and Spice Cake
NYX High Voltage Lipstick in Twisted, Feline, Dahlia, Stone, and Dirty Talk
I haven’t got a chance to play with these a ton but from what I’ve seen so far so I like, full reviews and swatches coming soon.
So I was sent “Just Let it Go” Eye Makeup Remover and Scandaleyes Kohl Eyeliner in black from Rimmel (via influenster) to review. I also purchased two of the new Show Off Lip Velvet Matte Liquid Lipsticks to try because like everyone else I’ve been obsessed with liquid lipsticks.
The Show Off Lip Velvets have the same angled doe foot applicator with a little hole in the middle to catch the product.
Show Off Lip Velvet in Apollo, Meteoric Matte & Scandaleyes Kohl Eyeliner in Black
I really wanted to love these liquid lipsticks but unfortunately they just didn’t. They never dried down and didn’t have a matte finish at all. Because they never set they moved around on my lips and probably get pretty messy as the day goes on. Apollo was way lighter and chalkier than it seemed in the tube and it really settled into the lip lines and just overall looked patchy and bad. Meteoric Matte was a nice berry color but the formula just did not perform. I would definitely skip these liquid lipsticks if you’re looking for a true matte lip products.
Next up is the “Just Let it Go” Eye Makeup Remover. This remover is labeled as being gentle on the eyes while being effective at removing waterproof eye makeup. Unfortunately, this remover was not effective at removing waterproof anything! I tried to remove the eyeliner that it was sent with and it was a total no go. The formula itself was gentle on the eyes but the effort I had to put into trying to scrub the liner out of my eyes was totally not worth it. This one is another skip for me, you’re much better off just using a little olive oil.
The Scandaleyes Kohl eyeliner was the best performing thing from this bunch of Rimmel products. It applied smoothly. This eyeliner was very soft and could be blended out but I would recommend doing it quickly because once it’s set it’s pretty much budge-proof. This liner is great for the water line.
NYC Expert Last Lip Color in Sugar Plum is a marsala color with a frosty finish. From looking at it in the tube I was thinking it was a cream finish but once swatched it has a silvery frost. This lipstick was sent to me in my Influenster Frosty Vox Box, so its not a color I would have chosen on my own. The lipstick was comfortable on my lips but I’m not a fan of frost finish lipsticks at all so it will probably never get any wear from me.
Today we have another purple lip product.
…. or nah. We all know I’m obsessed with purple lips. I told myself I was going to stop buying so many purples but this one was an Christmas gift.
Gerard Cosmetics are all over YouTube so I’m sure you’ve seen them before. The gloss comes in a really cute sleek package with a gold top. There’s a mirror on one side and the top has a light inside so you can apply lipgloss in the dark. Wild Orchid is SO pigmented. I would definitely consider it more of a shiny liquid lipstick than a gloss because it’s so opaque and it lasts for so long on the lips. This shade did stain my lips slightly which I actually like because it helps the product stay on a little longer.

Have you ever tried a makeup product so disappointing that you don’t know where to be livid or just cry? Me neither, until today.
In case you haven’t noticed liquid lipsticks are the “thing” right now in the makeup world. When I noticed that MUA had come at my local CVS for only $9.50 I figured it wouldn’t hurt to give one a try. Honestly how bad could it be?
The MUA liquid lipstick came in a very chic and study plastic packaging with a clear container so you can see the actual color of the lipstick. I love how high end and expensive it looks. The applicator had a skinny brush tip that was a little stiff. A few of the brush hairs were splayed when I opened it the first time but nothing horrible. Thats about where anything, good, decent, or acceptable ends with this product.
The consistency of the liquid lipstick is VERY thick. It felt like I was putting concealer on my lips. I thought the brush applicator would make the application easier but once again I was so wrong. The lipstick went on streaky and uneven and it was almost impossible to use the brush to help smooth it out. It dried quickly but was still kind of sticky at the same time and started to crumble off my lips almost immediately. The lipstick had probably been on my lips less than a minute in the picture below.
Look at that cracking and crumbling and was barely moving my mouth at all trying to let the product dry down.
Then I had the brilliant idea to rub my lips together to try to even it out because it was still just a little tacky.
THE END RESULT
WHAT IN MAKEUP HELL IS THIS?!?
so much NO!
The color from the top lip literally all flaked off to the bottom lip which just looks like a crumbly crackly mess. I tried using it on two separate occasions and had the same results both times. I’m pretty sure this is the worst lip product I have ever tried.
A friend of mine surprised me with a little package for Christmas. I had no clue what it was so when I finally got it and saw Kiko Cosmetics in the box I literally almost cried. I’ve been wanting to get my hands on some items from Kiko Cosmetics for ages and I finally got two products to try. For those who’ve never heard of Kiko they’re an Italian cosmetics brand that is available in the UK but is very hard to find in the USA. They have a few store in New York, New Jersey, and Florida.
Pencil Lip Gloss in 11 Mauve Brown
Infinity Eyeshadow in 213 Matte Cocoa
KIKO Infinity Eyeshadow in 213 Matte Cocoa
KIKO Lip Gloss Pencil in 11 Mauve Beige
The eyeshadow is in an individual pan so I can just pop it into my z-palette. The eyeshadow is very creamy and pigmented even though it’s a matte shadow its not hard to work with. I love the color because it’s so close to my skin tone. I plan on using it to make some super sexy neutral eye looks. The Lip Gloss Pencil is a very pigmented. It reminds me of a lipstick but it’s shiny and kind of tacky like a lipgloss. The stickiness doesn’t bother me really because it helps the product to last for a pretty long time. This gloss pencil lasts on my lips for about 4-5 hours which is more wear than I typically get out of a gloss.
I wish there was somewhere I could purchase more Kiko Cosmetics locally or online but unfortunately I can’t. I’m definitely going to visit one of their stores next time I’m traveling.
