Serial is probably the podcast that got me hooked (and a lot of America) on podcasts. I love a good murder mystery or true crime documentary. Serial analyzed the case of Adnan Syed who was convicted of murdering his girlfriend in the early 90s despite shoddy police work, shady witnesses and misleading evidence. Serial’s coverage of Adnan’s case has actually ended so it’s kind of a prerequisite for Undisclosed.
Undisclosed, created by a friend of Adnan’s, delves even deeper into his the evidence, investigation, prosecution and ongoing case of Adnan. Undisclosed is much more in-depth and technical than Serial but I just can’t get enough of Adnan’s story.
I can’t get through my week without listening to Kid Fury and Crissle giving me my hilarious weekly update of pop culture, crazy listener letters, dragging racists, and “Reads” that will have you crying laughing. I’ve even seen one of their live shows when they came to Detroit and they are even funnier in person. Check out their tour schedule to see if they’re coming to your area.
Who doesn’t want to be a millionaire? Pat Flynn is a blogger who’s made millions with his online businesses and shares awesome business info and interviews with other successful online business owners. If you’re interested in entrepreneurship and launching a online business I would definitely give this podcast a listen. Pat also posts show notes with all the info discussed on his blog which is super helpful. I always feel so inspired to take over the world after listening to SPI.
Death, Sex, and Money is a podcast about just that. Death, Sex, and Money gives you unique stories from regular people and celebrities about relationships, money, family and other taboo topics that you don’t usually hear. One of my favorite episodes is a recent one that discussed “siblinghood”, listen here.
Most people probably don’t know but I’m kind of obsessed with all things creepy and paranormal, so I was so excited when I found out about The Black Tapes. This docudrama follows a journalist, Alex Reagan, and paranormal skeptic, Dr. Strand. Together they re-investigate paranormal events that Dr. Strand was not able to disprove. I’m only two episodes in to The Black Tapes so far but it’s dark and creepy and I love it.
This brand new podcast just had their debut episode last week. Fran of heyfranhey.com has been my spiritual and healthy living “best friend in my head” since she started her youtube channel years ago. I can’t wait to see what type of knowledge she is going to drop on her own podcast. If you’ve ever listened to The Read you’ve probably heard Dustin and Assante being hilarious alongside Kid Fury and Crissle. I’m excited the hear what they will come up with in the coming weeks.
