Review: NYX Conceal Correct Contour Palette in Dark
Every brand is hopping on the highlighting and contouring bandwagon these days. NYX released their Conceal Correct Contour Palettes earlier this year, I picked up the darkest shade to give it a test run. I really wanted M·A·C’s Studio Conceal and Correct Palette in Dark, but when NYX released their dupe I figured I would give it a try before splurging on the MAC version.
The palette consists of six shades, 4 shades for concealing, highlighting, and contouring (depending on your skin tone) and 2 shades, the yellow and orange, for correcting hyperpigmentation and other skin discolorations.
Every shade in this palette is nicely pigmented which I liked. The shades worked well for brown skin and lasted all day in 90 degree weather on my face. I personally would have preferred a darker, cooler toned contour shade but that’s just my personal preference. The formula of this product was very stiff to me. I found that it was easiest to use my fingers to warm and apply the product, and then blend it out with my fingers or a damp beauty blender. I personally wish that the formula was slightly creamier but I think the drier formula helped with the wear time. I plan on continuing to use this palette, it works well and I like the shades in it, but I don’t think that I would repurchase because I prefer a creamier formula for my dry skin. I guess I’ll have splurge on the MAC version one of these days!
