Review: Affordable Beauty with Makeup Revolution
I’ve been hearing buzz about affordable UK beauty brand Makeup Revolution for a few years now online. I checked them out a bit but I hated their website so I never took the plunge and made an order. Well Makeup Revolution is now being carried in select Ulta stores and on Ulta.com so I was able to see them in person and picked up a few products from the “new to me” brand. First off, let me say I love the sleek packaging with the rose gold accents. Very classy for such an affordable brand.
“New Rules” Matte Blush
This bright pink-red blush is very pigmented. A small tap of my brush provided enough color for both of my cheeks. The formula was matte but not powdery or dying. This blush lasted all day on my cheeks with minimal fading after the 7-8 hour mark.
“Ready To Go” Bronzer
This product is marketed as a bronzer but for WOC it would definitely be more of a highlighting/illuminating product. I originally wanted the shade “Rock on World”, because I’ve heard it was a dupe for MAC’s Gold Deposit, but it was sold out in my store. I thought “Ready to Go” might be too ashy from seeing it in the pan but when I applied it to my face with a fan brush it gave me a nice natural peachy glow. It’s not a BECCA or TheBalm level “super goddess glow” that I LOVE but it’s nice for a more natural everyday look. I actually liked it more as the day wore on because it mixed with my natural oils and just melded into my skin. Like the blush this product lasted pretty much all day with minimal fading after 6-7 hours.
“Attract” and “Vamp” Velvet Lip Lacquers
These Lip Lacquers have a thick mousse like formula that applies relatively smooth and gives full coverage in one coat. They both took 1-2 minutes to dry completely. I feel that Vamp performed better throughout the day than Attract. Vamp wore for several hours with some fading towards the center of the mouth after eating. Attract, on the other hand, seemed to flake and crumble after about an hour of wear. The formula feels slightly heavier/thicker than Vamp which may be the cause of the crumbling.
“Love Nude” Lipstick
Love Nude is a creamy lipstick, it felt comfortable on the lips when applied. It wore for 4 hours on the lips. This is my least favorite product that I got from the line mostly because I hated the color on me. Outside of that there’s nothing of note about it, just your average affordable lipstick.

I don't really know much about Makeup Revolution, so thanks for this review! Holy cow those lip lacquers are pigmented! Though the crumbling is unfortunate. That bronzer is pretty, though!
