Continuing on with the saga that was my birthday/Christmas/end of the semester vacation, after staying in Ft. Lauderdale for the night we left to embark on the cruise portion of our vacation. We booked a 5 day Western Caribbean cruise with Royal Caribbean on the “Liberty of the Seas”. I’ve cruised once before as a kid on the Disney line with my family, so this was my first adult cruise and my first time out of the country with out my family.
We arrived early for check in at Port Everglades but still had quite a wait in line before we could board. I would definitely recommend paying for priority check in if you’re traveling with kids or like me and have the patience of a three year old. I do believe priority check in is free for Crown & Anchor Members, which I now am after completing this cruise, so I shouldn’t have to worry about it next time.
Day 1 was basically spent exploring the ship aka figuring out where the food was, drinking ALL of the alcohol and relaxing in the hot tub. The Liberty of The Seas is a big ship so there were a lot of things to see like the casino, gym, night club, rock climbing wall, and ice skating rink. We had three course dinners with wine every night in the prettiest restaurant overlooking the sea. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Our waiters were so fun.
Day 2 was spent at sea. I love that Royal Caribbean provided us with an agenda of all the events that were available on board so that we could plan our day or plan to do nothing at all. We indulged in a few spa services, enjoyed the live entertainment, watched movies by the pool and celebrated my birthday with a formal dinner and dessert. We also visited the ships night club that night, I rarely go to clubs at home but I was feeling adventurous. The DJ could have used some improvements but overall the party and the people were fun and lasted literally all night. We snuck out at 2am but the dancing and music was still going strong!
