In case you haven’t heard Maybelline has released a new collection of matte lipsticks to their ever so popular Color Sensational line. I haven’t seen much information on these but according to the display I found in Target they are supposed to be “the creamiest mattes”. I believe these shades are permanent as the display made no mention of “Limited Edition”. There are ten shades in the collection all together, I picked up four that I thought would be perfect for fall.
Touch of Spice
I am really impressed by these lipsticks, not surprisingly I usually love anything from the “Color Sensational” range. They all had very good pigmentation and covered evenly in 1-2 swipes over the lips. They go on with a somewhat satin matte finish but dry down to completely matte finish after they’ve been on for a few minutes. They definitely live up to the claim of being “creamy mattes”. They apply really smooth with no dragging or tugging and are comfortable on the lips. I wore “Divine Wine” all day and didn’t have the shriveled lip feeling that I usually get when wearing other matte lipsticks like MAC’s Retro Mattes. It last for about 6-7 hours on my lips even with a little eating and drinking.
I was worried that “Nude Embrace” might be too light for my skin tone but it has enough pink tones in it to not look chalky against my brown skin. “Craving Coral” is definitely less coral more burnt orange, in my opinion, but it’s perfect for fall. It reminds me of orange leaves. As a matte lip lover these are must haves, I definitely plan on picking up the rest of the shades soon.
