CAN WE JUST START WITH THE PACKAGING PLEASE! I love these little glass pots! They’re so high end looking && heavy compared to what you usually get from drugstore products. I’ve been slowly collecting all the Maybelline Color Tattoos for months now. I have most of the permanent collection with the exception of “Too Cool” (pearly white), “Edgy Emerald” (shimmer green) and “Painted Purple” (matte purple). I don’t plan on purchasing the purple shade due to reading so many negative reviews on its patchy application 🙁 I love the range of colors in the permanent collection, most drugstore brands tend to shy away from brights. When I saw the Fall Fashion Week Collection on BOGO50 sale at Rite Aid last week I had to snatch them all up! They are such pretty neutrals for fall.
Although the description states that they can be worn alone, which they can, I prefer to wear them as bases topped with powdered shadows. These shadows are best applied with the fingers and patted onto the eye for the boldest coverage but they can also be blended and sheered out. For those on a budget these are the drugstore answer to MUFEs Aqua Creams for $6-7 vs $23, while they’re not exactly the same (MUFEs are better & for the price they should be) they’re a good product for someone not willing to make the splurge!
Pros
- Long wearing and smudge resistant (especially when used as a base), it took several scrubs of my makeup wipes to clean my arm from swatching
- Minimal creasing when worn alone
- great color range
- Sturdy glass packaging
Cons
- some shades with shimmer feel a little drier/ grittier when applied (Mossy Green, Tenacious Teal) but not enough to cause pain or irritation
- Mossy Green and Audacious Asphalt have a slightly patchy, but buildable, application. They’ll take a little more work to wear on their own
- HEAVY due to the packaging if you plan on carrying a bunch in your MUA kit
